Book Jackets    DOC_45456

Includes Brandon Sanderson’s “The Stormlight Archive” series (the first 3 books anyway). They’re enormous fantasy books, each over 1,000 pages long. As of 5/2026, I still haven’t finished the 5th one.

I do library work, specifically in Children’s Services, so I look at lot of book covers. I noticed children’s fantasy books get a lot of love and interesting variety compared to the adult offerings, particularly high fantasy. I thought I would update “The Stormlight Archive” books with a treatment that spoke to its grandiose themes and plot and still felt mature. I also reimagined the books separated physically into parts, as they are separated in writing.

The jacket art is edited combinations of pieces from Italian watercolorist Raffaele Mainella, for “Nos Invisibles” (1907).

There’s also a re-design of “And Tango Makes Three”, which is a children’s picture book based on the true story of two male penguins who create a family together in a zoo. It’s one of the most challenged and banned books in the U.S, which is why I chose to give it an update and a new art direction.
